Movico Technologies

Founded in 2007, Movico is an early stage software start-up integrating key video, mobile, PC and internet technologies to build next generation video software products serving the needs of content owners, video producers and distributors looking to make their video transactional. Movico is focused on offering India-based cost and scale advantages to media and content companies to help with video digitization, search tagging and similar services.

Movico has developed a software tool called MediaBaron that makes it possible to provide these services over standard Internet connection without shipping the source tapes or the files to India. Movico Technologies also offers turnkey solutions through its Media Services team for digitizing analog video libraries and can convert any form of analog and digital tapes to digital files. By combining it’s MediaBaron software platform with its it’s India-based Media Services team, Movico Technologies is able to provide a secure, low-cost video ingest, cataloguing and distribution solution without requiring local access to source media.

With digital video channels playing an ever-more prominent role across all media markets, demand for high-quality historical footage is now as high as it is for new material, and a growing number of stock footage companies and other content owners are looking to cost-effectively digitize their video libraries, create searchable catalogs and move into transactional video models.

Migrating content to a digital format opens up new revenue options over mobile TV, Web TV and IPTV, VOD, Mobile Value Added Services and clips for viewing on demand. For stock footage companies, providing both screenable clips online as well as downloadable clips has become a competitive necessity. For producers, digital video asset management simplifies the reuse of existing footage and facilitates the management of newly shot footage. For all types of media companies, the availability of digital footage offers obvious advantages in cost and space requirements on an ongoing basis.

While digital conversion is clearly the first step in the process, video content must also be discoverable for digital consumption and reuse to truly take off. This requires deep metadata tagging for search, and using offshore resources working online can significantly reduce the costs involved cataloging, keywording and metadata addition.

MediaBaron provides video producers and content owners with a simple yet powerful way to deploy a video asset management system for their archival and production management requirements, exploit their existing content holdings and monetize their media assets via emerging distribution options.

MediaBaron is an integrated software platform for tape-less, completely digital workflows, intuitively designed to integrate all elements of digital video production and management, offering single pass high-res and low-res capture; online meta-tagging, logging and clip generation; tapeless production workflow via drag and drop interface; and Integrated transcode, FTP and PlayOut Servers for monetization over web & mobile.

Moving Picture Company India

Movico is currently working with Moving Picture Company India, one of India’s leading television production companies, to digitize, classify and repurpose MPC’s collection of rare, high-quality footage, allowing MPC to easily access the video library for its own production use. Movico has installed MediaBaron, its video management product, at MPC’s production facilities and over 300+ hours of footage are live online supported by the database. Producers and editors can search, select and cut the high-resolution video directly into their Adobe Premier and other editorial software stations, saving significant time and costs in handling tapes. Moving Picture’s exclusive footage collection, exceeding 12,000 hours overall, includes travel destinations, exotic locations, major political events, profiles of Bollywood stars, celebrities, music performances and unique stock footage from all over India, Afghanistan and Bhutan. It also includes fiction programs and original animation footage.  Over 600 hours of footage has a been completely digitized and classified with meta-tags making the library instantly searchable.

Movico is also helping MPC make select footage available for worldwide sale as stock footage to other content producers. Over 3000 clips have been created and are now available  commercially through Movico’s stock footage website www.movicovideos.com.
